Subhashree Ganguly is known to be the glamorous face of Tollywood. While she has worked in several commercial movies over the years, her role in husband and director Raj Chakraborty’s latest Bengali film Parineeta, which is set to start streaming on ZEE5 from December 6, will see her in a completely new avatar. The role comprises a girl’s journey from a smitten teenager who is in love with her tutor to a vengeful adult who will not leave any stone unturned to avenge the one she loves.
Before you gear up to watch a very transformed Subhashree– sans make-up and de-glam, here are four movies of hers that you should check out on ZEE5.
Starring in PB Chaki’s big-screen debut, alongside Soham Chakraborty and Ranjit Mallick, Subhashree plays the role of a newly-married girl Jayati, who is waiting for her husband to take her for their honeymoon. However, Geetin (played by Soham) finds it difficult to take out time for his wife when his employer (played by Ranjit) burdens him with work. Fortunately, the couple do find a chance to finally go for that long-awaited holiday when the workaholic boss leaves for Mumbai. In a humorous turn of events, the couple are about to discover some rather unpleasant surprises, making Honeymoon a hilarious watch.
2. Megh Roddur
Subhashree is in her glamorous best in this bittersweet tale about stardom and its many perks. Starring alongside Palash Ganguly, Biswajit Chakaraborty, Anindya Banerjee, Biswanath Basu and Debolina Dutta, Subhashree enacts the role of the ambitious actress Madhuja in Megh Roddur. During a shoot in Shillong, she falls in love with a local bookshop owner, Arpan. But their relationship takes a sudden turn when there is a terror attack in the city. The story paces up with its topsy-turvy narrative and Subhashree adds an edge to it with her pleasant presence on screen.
3. Amar Apanjan
This heart-warming tale about finding the person who not only understands you but wants the best for you sees Subhashree in yet another avatar. Starring alongside Soham, Amar Aponjan follows a young man as he meets with his past love interests to invite them at his wedding. Subhashree enacts the role of a professionally-successful woman who becomes the backbone to the protagonist’s success in life. Her mellow performance almost gives a soothing aspect to the already stirring story.
4. Dekh Kamon Lage
The industry cannot get enough of this pair, and in this tongue-in-cheek comedy, the couple present themselves in a whole new dynamic. in Dekh Kemon Lage, Subhashree stars opposite Soham, who is a playboy, as his constant support. As his best friend, her character tries to keep him away from all troubles, but when the family faces a crisis, Soham’s character has to either find a route to escape or live up to his best friend’s expectations.
