1. For dry skin
Have you ever wanted healthy and glowing skin, but never had the time to invest in expensive procedures at the salon? Well, do not worry, as we show you five simple ways you can do this right at the comfort of your home as you self-isolate, with a few ingredients in your kitchen just like Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay star Swastika Dutta, who plays the role of the chirpy Radhika, a fashion designer working in Sen Creations, a company headed by Karna Sen (played by Krushal Ahuja). If you typically have dry skin and could do with some natural moisturising, try mixing 1 tablespoon of plain curd and 2 tablespoons of gram flour (besan) to make a paste. Add a pinch of turmeric if you have it, and a teaspoon of honey. Apply an even layer on your face after you have cleaned it, and let it sit for five minutes. The gramflour is an excellent cleanser and, the curd will nourish and moisturise your skin, and turmeric and honey will act antibacterial agents to keep your skin germ free.
2. For oily skin
If you have skin that tends to be more oily, try the lemon and honey pack. To make this, mix 2 teaspoons honey, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 2 teaspoons of water. Apply on your face for 15 to 20 minutes till it dries off, and wash off with water. The lemon juice has astringent properties that will reduce the excess sebum while the honey will moisturise your skin and make it supple.
3. To cool your skin
If you have been troubled by irritated and inflamed skin, you will benefit from this fenugreek (methi) pack immensely. Simply boil a few fenugreek seeds in water till they are soft, and apply this water on your skin after it has cooled off. Alternatively, you can also soak 2-3 teaspoons of the seeds overnight and grind them into a paste that you can apply on your face. Wash off after it has dried. If you have the time, lie back and place cucumber slices on your eyelids for an even more cooling and relaxing effect.
4. For pimple scars
If you have scars from a previous bout of acne, Fuller’s Earth (multani mitti) will help remove them. Mix 2 teaspoons of Fuller’s Earth and half a teaspoon of sandalwood powder together. Make a smooth paste with some rose water and apply on your face. Wait till it dries off completely, then wash it off your face with cold water. You will feel the difference almost immediately!
5. To improve skin tone
If you want to give dull skin a healthy glow, try this saffron-infused face pack. Soak 3-4 strands of saffron in water overnight. The next day, add a teaspoon of milk, a few drops of coconut oil and a pinch of sugar. Apply on your face with a cotton ball, and wash off after about 15 minutes when it has dried off. Try to do this 2-3 times a week for the best results, and watch your skin brighten up.
