Today is the birth anniversary of the great Rabindranath Tagore, our exceptional poet, author and lyricist from Bengal, who had also been recognised with the prestigious Nobel Prize for Literature. Kotobaro Bhebechhinu is a famous Rabindrasangeet that is wonderfully melodious and soulful. This video is from the soundtrack of the film Dwikhondito, and stars actors Saswata Chatterjee and Saayoni Ghosh. A classic track, this is the perfect time to listen to it again!

2. Kothao Amar Hariye Jaoar

This one is a beautiful Rabindrasangeet, the lyrics of which are about wanderlust, and there being no boundaries in the mind when it comes to exploring new horizons. It encourages you to dream and imagine with an open mind, and being intrepid about it, in a most alluring way!

3. Ekla Chalo Re

Ekla Chalo Re means ‘let us go alone,’ and is a song that will embolden you and lift your spirit with its encouraging words and upbeat melody. This particular rendition is from the soundtrack of the ZEE5 Original series called It Happened In Calcutta. Adapted from Tagore’s song, this version adds a unique spin that you are sure to enjoy.

4. Chander Hashi

This of the song Chander Hashi, sung by Riddhi Bandyopadhyay and Debmalya Chottopadhyay will stir your soul, and is from the movie Shlilatahanir Pore. The music video features actors Abhishek Chatterjee, Mouboni Sarkar and Devlina Kumar, and you will love it! The song compares the beloved’s smile and beauty to that of the moon, and is replete with some gorgeous poetry.

5. Ami Chini Go Chini Tomare

Ami Chini Go Chini Tomare, another classic Rabindrasangeet, addresses a lady from an alien land, and has an extremely catchy melody! One of the most popular Bengali songs that there is, this is one that you need to listen to on this day to enjoy it better. This version sung by Surajit Chatterjee is featured in the film Kusumutar Gappo, starring Soumitra Chatterjee and Madhabi Mukherjee.
